My Essay About "Voices In the Park".

My essay is about ‘Voices in the Park’ which is a picture book by Anthony Browne. Anthony Browne writes lots of children books which have very interesting pictures in them with hidden clues and meanings. I am going to discuss some of his writing skills.
Anthony Browne uses different types of fonts and colours. He uses them to show the characters personality. For example, the happy girl in the story has smudges in her fonts, and it is all messy. This is to show that she is active and likes to get messy. Another example is Charles, who is neat - always smart and dressed properly, and his writing shows this because it is calm and neat.
Anthony Browne hides clues in his pictures. He uses this skill to show the feelings and emotions of his characters. For example, the picture of the two dogs running through the statues of the children’s parents show that the parents will never change. What he is inferring is that the parents are like stone which means they will never change, and their chil…

Collecting Water by Lisa Oyanna

When the summer comes
we hide on down
in the midday heat and
watch the land shrink
as the devils rise to play and blur
the horizon. But we have to drink.
A woman walks there
as the land bakes.
Her skin is black
her Iro and Gele are deep red,
the water jug, held with one hand
upon its rim, atop her head.
She sways along the path,
moving to the heat waves.
In her vessel is the water
for her children,
from the well five miles back.
She's one of many mothers
collecting water every morning.

An Afternoon with Uncle James

Image
On Tuesday afternoon, Uncle James came to our classroom to draw cartoon versions of ourselves with us. He is a friend of Mrs Manuyag.
In his spare time, he likes to draw cartoons and comics. He taught us how to draw a cartoon face, neck, and body. He also helped all of us draw the details, like the eyes, the nose, the hair, and the eyelashes. He took the afternoon off his work to help us draw ourselves in cartoon.

Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born on April 21, 1926 on Bruton Street in London. She was named after her mother. Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon and King George 6 were her parents. She had a sister, Princess Margaret.

Queen Elizabeth’s education did not happen in school, but at home, privately. She was taught different kinds of subjects like languages like Greek, Latin, and French. She enjoyed learning drama, art, music, and swimming.

When the Princess’s father’s brother stepped down as king in 1936, her father became next in line for the role of king. Also in 1936, she became a Girl Scout when she was 11.

A few years later, in 1947, she got married to Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. 1948, she gave birth to her first child, Prince Charles. Then later on she had 3 more children, Anne Elizabeth (born 1950), Andrew Albert (born 1960), and Edward Antony (born 1964).

Sadly, in 1952, her father died of cancer, which came from heavy smoking, so she was crow…

Today was National Book Character Mufti Day. I dressed up as the BFG (Big Friendly Giant). I had tonnes of fun seeing other people dress up as other characters from other books, like Princess of the Flowers, books about One Direction, and many more.
